page 2 - February 10, 1986 Thurs May 15, Main working day for Statement on Violence. Final draft adopted. Fri May 16. Final day. Return to Seville. Meetings with University Rector, press, etc. Departure for all except those who intend to stay for Fiesta in Seville. Our thanks to Martin Ramirez who has been working hard to arrange this schedule, including University financial support for our stay at their conference center on the beach. We are seeking other financial support, but so for it is not definite. Therefore, at the present time, each participant is responsible to pay for the hotel accomodations that Martin has reserved at the Hotel Murillo for May 11, 12, and 13 (and also a few rooms for May 10). If it is possible, please indicate to me or Martin if you are willing to share a double room. Participants should also be prepared to pay for meals on May 12 and 13. We recognize that some of you must receive financial support in order to take part, and we are working hard to obtain it. Please note the changes from the original dates. It turns out that May 17 and 18 is a grand fiesta with over one million people coming to the little city of Seville. Obviously, everyone is invited to make arrangements to stay for the Fiesta, but it is also obvious that we would not be able to accomplish our important tasks on those days. I have already checked with most of you about the change in dates and am pleased to report that we can expect everyone to come for at least part of our work, Some of you who cannot come for May 12-16 should plan to come for May 10-13 instead, which is a good alternative, since work on the preliminary draft will be very important. I have received a few of the one-page statements from you and will circulate them in a separate mailing. These will help us prepare the preliminary draft. Next step: we plan to assemble and circulate to everyone a scientific appendix for our work. Please send to me by March l: l) a brief publication (article, book chapter, etc) or unpublished work (speech, lecture, draft, etc.) by yourself that bears directly on our topic, emphasizing empirical data. 2)} brief publication or unpublished work by someone else whose work you consider to be critical for our topic, again emphasizing empirical data. In this way, we will put together a scientific appendix to our work in Seville, basing it on at least three items from each participant: l) your own previous writing; 2) the written piece by the other person that you submit; and 3) the presentation that you will make at the Coloquio in May. This scientific appendix will be the background for the Statement on Violence. Please send the title for your Coloquio presentation directly to Martin Ramirez along with your registration form, if you have not already done so. Martinā€˜s address is: Dept. of Psychobiology, Univ. of Seville, Apartado de Correos 3128. Seville, Spain, 4100].
