Textbook publication of the Seville message has a longer lag time than other media, but may in the long run prove most effective. Author David Myers of Hope College, Michigan, writes that he is adding a paragraph to the social relations chapter of his 2nd edition textbook of PSYCHOLOGY on the Seville Statement. He also plans to add a similar paragraph to the 3rd edition of his textbook, SOCIAL PSYCHOLOGY. The two new editions are due out in 1989, and are used in some 700 colleges, mostly in North America. In England, Robert Hinde has included the Seville message in a chapter for a Reader which is to be used for an A level school course on Peace Studies. There is a great need for publication of background materials for the Seville Statement so that students can study them in greater detail. A start was made last year with the publication of ESSAYS ON VIOLENCE by the University of Seville (Calle San Fernando, 4, 41004, Sevilla Spain - $20 a copy). Now an even more complete text is being made available, We welcome the planned publication of the book AGGRESSION AND WAR: THEIR BIOLOGICAL AND SOCIAL BASES by Cambridge University Press. The book is edited by Seville signatories Jo Groebel and Robert Hinde. A projected Table of Contents for the book is enclosed. It is scheduled for publication this summer. As always, the most important means of disseminating the message of the Seville Statement is the individual initiative of our Support Network. I have already mentioned the initiatives of Dimitra Papadopoulou and Bianca Cody Murphy, whose letters are enclosed. I also enclose letters from Miomir Zuzul of the Department of Psychology of the University of Zagreb, Yugoslavia, and Bernice Zahm. psychologist and member of PSYCHOLOGISTS FOR SOCIAL RESPONSIBILITY in California. Hopefully, their letters will serve as inspiration to others on our mailing list." Please add the Yugoslav journal KEVIJA A PSIHOLOGIJU, mentioned by Zuzul to the our list of publications that was enclosed with Volume Z, Number 2 of our newsletter. A brief note was also received from John Vasconcellos. representative of California's 23rd District in the State Assembly, who says that he is sharing the Seville Statement with "California's two U.S. Senators and Congressional delegation and my friends" and who wishes us well in our work. From Romania, we have received a letter and materials from Professor Ursula Schiopu of the University of Bucurest who writes that the Seville Statement is described in an article in REVISTA DE PSIHOLOGIE, number 3. 1937, as "an important document of a constructive initiative from a professional level." Schiopu also enclosed a bibliography of Romanian psychological publications for peace and a list of topics at their scientific meeting for peace on November 13, both of which I can send to you upon request. Finally, I call to your attention the enclosed letter requesting your financial support for the newsletter for the coming year, Contributions from any of you will be appreciated. but I especially hope to receive support from the organizations that you represent (please contact them on our behalf!) and from our U.S supporters. Peace, David Adams Corresponding Secretary
