--- Robert Hinde has a new book coming out from MacMillan Press, entitled The Institution of War, to be published this month the advertisement says; "War must be regarded as an institution which has evolved over time. If its incidence is to be reduced, the forces that maintain it as an institution must be understood. In this book the nature of war and the factors that sustain it are considered from diverse perspectives - anthropology, history, political science, theology, philosophy, international law, economics, psychiatry and biology." --- In the United States. the Peace and Justice Caucus of the National Education Association (NEA) summarized the Seville Statement in their newsletter, which ws distributed to a thousand members of the caucus and to another thousand teachers who attended the NEA convention. The NEA represents about two million teachers in the United States. The Statement was also endorsed by the Peace Studies Association, which represents Peace Studies programs throughout the United States. The endorsement will he announced in their next newsletter. --- In South Korea. the Statement was recently published and disseminated by Dr. Seio Kyuno Bo in his weekly newsletter, Il Boong. --- In Guatemala, thanks to Dr, Leonel Morales Aldana, the Statement has been published in CIENCIA Y EDUCACION, the magazine of the Facultad de Humanidades, and in the Informative Bulletin of the Facultad de Ingenieria of the Universidad de San Carlos, --- In the Soviet Union. Seville signatory N.P. Bechtereva has suggested that the brochure Should be distributed through the All Union Physiological Society --- In Finland, and throughout the International Peace Research Association, Signatory Riitta Wahlstrom continues her remarkable use of the Seville Statement. It is published in full as on appendix in her newest book, Growth Towards Peace and Environmental Responsibility: From Theory to Practical Implications, published by the University of Jyvaskyla Institute For Educational Research. In Moscow, she included the Statement in her presentation at the END Convention in August. And in Italy (Venice and Florence) she presented the Statement as part of her reports in two other conferences. --- In Greece, Professor Dimitra Papadopoulou continues "the Greek life of the Statement." Her students are asked to study the psychological concepts of the Statement, prepare short essays on these concepts and discuss them in the classroom, and prepare arguments based on the social psychology of the Statement and the 1974 UNESCO Recommendation on Education, --- In the Netherlands, Piet Dijkstra writes that the organization Vereniginq Pedagogan voor de Vrede is taking up the question of distribution of the brochure in their country --- For the next six months I will be working in Paris at UNESCO, where, among other tasks, I will work on coordinating the dissemination and use of the brochure.
